Terms of use
Draft. These terms must be reviewed by counsel before the exchange opens to the public.
What Agrarian Exchange is
Agrarian Exchange is a marketplace where members trade goods and services directly with each other. We keep the record of trades and balances. We are not a party to any trade, and we don't inspect, store, ship or guarantee goods or work.
Trade Credits and ASU
Trade Credits (TC) and Agrarian Standard Units (ASU) are bookkeeping units that record what members owe each other inside the exchange. They are not money, not legal tender, not a security or investment, and can't be redeemed for cash from Agrarian Exchange. A Trade Credit is valued at one US dollar for bookkeeping and tax purposes only. ASU are valued against the published basket of goods.
Two separate exchanges
The Trade Credit Exchange and the Commodity Exchange are separate books. Balances on one can't be moved to or spent on the other.
Credit lines
Your profile may go below zero up to its credit line. A negative balance is a commitment to provide goods or services to other members of equal value. If you leave with a negative balance, we may ask you to settle it.
Crypto
On the Trade Credit Exchange, members may agree to settle part of a trade by sending crypto directly from one member's wallet to the other's. Agrarian Exchange never holds, sends or converts crypto and is not responsible for transfers, prices or lost funds.
Taxes
Barter income is generally taxable at fair market value. Where required, we report members' Trade Credit income to tax authorities. You are responsible for your own taxes.
Prohibited items
You may not list anything illegal where you or your trading partner live, or anything on the prohibited list shown on the listing form. We may remove listings and suspend members who break these rules.
Disputes
If a trade goes wrong, open a dispute on the trade. An admin will review it and may settle the trade as agreed, void it, or post a correcting adjustment.
